We must not forget our history. I think the people at WordArt Wednesday should be brutally honest with themselves why the fact that the Nazis - the undisputed evil doers of all time - oppressed gays using the same rationale that is being used today by this particular WordArt Wednesday member.
Personally I can not accept this. Nor respect this. Therefore I will boycott Word Art Wednesday from now on.
What's problematic is that when more Christians realize that homosexuality can't be cured*, they will be left with two choices: 1. They will have to realize that their Biblical understanding isn't without error -> they will therefore adapt a more LGBTQ-friendly interpretation. 2. They will keep believing that their interpretation that homosexuality is a sin, is correct -> Since homosexuality can't be cured, they will eventually start advocating for the murder of homosexuals. We have already seen this happen. I don't mean just what happened 70 years ago, but 1 year ago. It was recently known that Christian fundamentalists from U.S. helped finance the "Kill the gays"-bill in Uganda. No surprise there.
We know what silence leads to. It leads to oppression of people. And even murder. Therefore I won't be quiet, no matter how uncomfortable some people find this to be. My people have already been through this. They have been bloody murdered. NOT ACCEPTABLE.
And don't even bother to talk about how much you love my people or your people. You don't. If you did, you wouldn't oppress people for Christ's sake.
And also don't bother to call me selfish. I'm not even a LGBTQ-person. I'm just a human being who is capable of feeling empathy. I'm sorry you are not.
Don't try to disguise that lack of empathy as a concern for other people. You are hating on people because it suits you. It makes you feel better about yourself. And you make all other Christians seem like bad people in the process.
*Right now homophobic Christians are still talking about ex-gay, despite the fact that it has been proven a zillion times already that it doesn't work (it's really tiresome that people don't educate themselves better). Also the ex-gay-organization Exodus shut down this year and apologized for misleading people.
